Adham's Story

Adham
Age 8
Children's Hospital Central California
Brain Tumor

Most 8-year-olds don’t dream of becoming a cruise ship chef, nor are they fluent in English and Arabic, proficient in Spanish and learning French. But Adham is not your average kid.

In July 2004 Adham, then 9 months old, was diagnosed with pilocytic astroctytoma, a low-grade brain tumor that has left him blind in his right eye. Since his infancy, Adham has undergone numerous chemotherapy treatments and surgeries to prevent the tumor spreading further in his spinal cord.

Adham’s love for life is infectious. He enthusiastically invites other patients at the hospital to one day visit his restaurant, compliments of the house. While regular radiology surveillance and MRI scans will continue, Adham has big dreams for the future and no intention of slowing down. Look for his cruise ship restaurant coming to a port near you!
